Beside the Performance Space Exhibition and the Best Performance Design & Scenography Publication Award Exhibition, the Central Hall houses the PQ x Book Therapy Bookshop and the coffee, as well as following projects:
Czech Radio Vltava: Audio zone
With a completely special spatial sound, a radio play is being performed by Czech Radio Vltava at the Prague Quadrennial. The Adelaide Carpenter Memory Wing is the first purely binaural production and will be heard in the Vltava Audio Zone in the Central Hall of the Industrial Palace.
Taboo Collection
Body, sex, gender, blood, sickness, death, horror rhymes for children. Sensitive topics on the catwalk in extravagant dresses inspired by internal and external taboos. The spectacular fashion concert that combines the professions of costume designer Fruzsina Nagy and conductor Dóra Halas, building a playful setting where exciting and unspoken taboos conquer the catwalk of everyday frustrations, so that for a moment we can all look them in the eye.
Emergence: Festival
On 12 June, the PQ Studio: Results Driven Worskhops will move from DAMU to the Central Hall and install their work in an “open workshop” format during the day leading to an evening of public sharings, performances, costume shows, and installations. A surprise and well-prepared improvisation – since no one will be able to completely predict the exact outcome of the workshops until the very last day – makes a point that no matter how interesting the process of creation might be, it is the audience that gives the meaning to the work of performance design.
Emergence: Costume, LIVE!
Emergence: Festival will be followed by a 2-day discussion and an open forum style workshop dedicated to the designer-maker collaboration organized by renowned costume designer Simona Rybáková. The first day will feature in depth discussions with costume workshop leaders about their processes, challenges faced, and triumphs achieved during the process of creation with the participants. The second day will include a unique opportunity to learn how three very different designers collaborate with one maker and how the process of making affects the original design idea.
